And the Oscar goes to...

Personally I always liked it better when they said, "...And the winner is" but in this liberal society where winning hurts, I guess this is as good as it gets.

Anyway, here are my Oscar picks. I haven't seen all the nominated roles or even all of the nominated movies, but I know what I like and have my own little vision of what the Oscars should be. I envision a very highbrow ceremony that lauds great dialogue, beautiful camera work and acting that allows the role to override the performer. But that may be asking too much from the industry that is bringing us "Hot Tub Time Machine."

Without further ado, here are my picks.

Best Picture:

The Hurt Locker

Best Director:

Kathryn Bigelow

Best Actress:

Meryl Streep

Best Supporting Actress:

Mo'Nique

Best Actor:

Colin Firth

Best Supporting Actor:

Stanley Tucci (SO Underrated)

Best Animated Feature:

Up

Best Cinematography:

Avatar

Costume Design:

Young Victoria

Film Editing:

District 9

Best Makeup:

Young Victoria

Sound Editing:

Star Trek

Visual Effects:

Star Trek

Writing (Adapted):

Precious

Writing (Original):

Inglorious Bastards

There you have it. Incidentally, did you know that if Meryl Streep wins, she will be the second actress and the third performer to win more than two oscars? The Actress with the most wins is Katharine Hepburn with four statuettes, and the winningest man is Jack Nicholson with three.

Enjoy the show!
